Segard Masurel is one of New Zealand’s major wool exporters and a wool broker/direct selling operation, harnessing all the advantages of a fully integrated supply strategy. The Segard Masurel Group has been involved in the New Zealand wool industry since 1907. Wool sold by Segard Masurel at auction is done so on an arm’s length basis to a bench of buyers competing equally in an open cry arena.
Alternatively, direct sale to the manufacturer enables farmers to capitalise on Segard Masurel’s expedient one-stop position between growers and end markets – streamlining the wool chain to maximise cost efficiencies.
Segard Masurel also offers Forward Contracts at fixed or indexed prices.
The Segard Masurel Group deals exclusively in wool and has built a substantial network of global trading partnerships that date back to its inception in France in 1846. Capitalising on this, its New Zealand wool representatives can offer solid contracts into well-established markets backed by strong relationships and sustainable pricing structures.
These markets are predominantly situated in Northern Europe, China and right here in New Zealand. In support of the crossbred sector, Segard Masurel is heavily committed to carpet manufacturers, at home and abroad, including several well-known brands such as Cavalier Bremworth and Godfrey Hirst (now owned by Mohawk).
Segard Masurel also supplies a wide range of mid-micron and finer wools into some of the world’s most exclusive fashion industries – and to manufacturers of high-end knitting yarns, bedding and blankets, and interior textiles. Over 60% of Segard Masurel wool is sold to clients producing globally recognised brands. The Group trades in greasy wool, scoured wool, slipe, carbonised wool, tops and noils.
With vested interests on both sides of the equation, Segard Masurel helps farmers to grow the best wool possible and in doing so, preserves its own reputation as a respected exporter of quality wool.
